Bashiok Bashes Claims of Diablo 3 February Release

On January 7th, rumors and photos of Diablo fans from around the US emerged quickly all over the internet, including a blog entry released from Joystiq. Threads and posts all over the Diablo forums began showing up with this picture:

This photo was later to be confirmed real by a Best Buy employee stating that the store did indeed have an apparent midnight release for Diablo III. This is great news, except… what does Blizzard have to say about their own game announcement? The answer was absolutely nothing — until now. Just moments ago, Bashiok announced via Twitter that “Diablo III does not have a release date. Any store or person claiming otherwise is guessing.”

It is still unclear when Diablo III will be released, although Soon™ is always a good estimate for Blizzard games. No official response from Jay Wilson on the Diablo III launch has emerged either, leaving Diablo fans in the dark. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a company like Best Buy doing something like this in order to get pre-orders. Gamestop did the same thing over a year ago, and thousands attempted to pre-order the game. That promotion has since been taken down by Gamestop, but Best Buy doesn’t seem to be the only one announcing the February release. Target has also jumped aboard this idea of a February release.

As for all the hardcore fans of the Diablo series, we all knew better than to believe such shenanigans but the light of a possible Diablo III release was just what many of us wanted to hear. After all the rumors of Diablo III’s delays being blamed on the delayed release into Korea, we needed something. The wait continues…

My Lunar Eclipse Shots Claim “Top Submission” From The Atlantic News

I’m absolutely flattered and amazed that so many people are into Astronomy, and that out of all those in the world, my submission of the Lunar Eclipse taken just a couple months ago claimed the “top photo” on The Atlantic online news website! You can read the full article here:

It goes to show that following your hobbies and dreams really can mean something not just to yourself, but everyone else around you. I’m filled with love and gratefulness that I’ve been able to accomplish so much as an Astrophotography and a musician. Normally, I’m my own worst enemy, because I’m such a perfectionist. I hoped that one day, all my hard work of learning the sky, my telescope, and my camera would pay off. It did, and I couldn’t feel more accomplished. Sometimes all we need is someone to tell us that they like or respect what we do, and I couldn’t be any happier seeing that come from a public source such as The Atlantic. Thank you, Alexis Madrigal, for viewing my submission. I hope you liked it, and I hope even better ones will come in the future.

More Great Website Updates!

If you’ve been frequently visiting the site, you’ve probably noticed a new theme change, lots of pages and content added, and some sidebar goodies. I’m still working very hard on most of this stuff, but it’s coming along quite well.  The Twitter section is working great, and pretty soon I’ll finish uploading the rest of the content. See you in a couple days!

Being A Veteran On Veteran’s Day

Being a veteran to me isn’t just something that I’ve earned through being part of the United States Army – no, it’s been something I feel like I’ve earned through the hard work and dedication to my country, my unit, and my family. Sometimes it was hard to realize the importance of how being a veteran mattered to most people. When I heard people telling me “thanks for your service”, I always appreciated it, but I’ve never taken it this seriously until now. All the early wake-up calls, the no breakfasts I’ve had due to no time, all the ass-chewings over the smallest things that really weren’t a big deal, and spending more time looking more presentable than anything or anyone else just to conduct regular business on a regular day. All the constant training has been a huge pain in the ass as well. I sit back though, and I think about all these things, and I finally realize that only 2 percent of the American population do what I do every day. Hearing that “thank you” makes me feel recognized out of those two percent. It reminds me of all the Veteran hospitals and homes I went to and spent time with all our Veterans from World War II, and Vietnam, and how I cried once I realized that I was the only family they had. One day, it’ll probably be me, and I’m so thankful that people care about our early wake-ups, no breakfasts, ass-chewings, and galore. In the same sense, I look around me, and see my brothers and sisters and all the things they’ve done for us. It’s not just me, it’s the cook right across from my company, or the guy who washed all my clothes in basic training, or those crazy group of guys I saw walking down the road in full battle-rattle at 0620 in the morning at 43 degrees. I appreciate the recognition as just someone who has served our country even if it may never add up to some of our veterans. I am thankful to have been included as a great hero next to them. Thank you, for all of you who served, or are serving our forces, and I hope you all have a great Veteran’s Day. Please don’t forget to visit the Veteran’s Home and show your appreciation by becoming part of a Veteran’s family, it’ll change your life.

Things are Tough All Over (or are they?)

No, not the movie! Really! It’s been a while, but I’m working on some First Sun projects. I’ve relinquished my rights for d3-nation.com and let it go. Same old crappy third-party domain reseller. It’s funny. For all the views on this website I sure don’t get much for commentary. I guess it’s better that way.

So I’m working on some First Sun music, and I’m just about finished with the Mind Under Matter album. It’s been almost six years since I could say that. I’ve done pretty much everything by myself. Consider me as a Trent Reznor, I suppose. I don’t prefer it that way, but whatever works for the time-being. I’m still working hard at my guitar skills, and they are coming along very very well actually. Next stop will be to learn the modes, and scales.

School has been put on hold due to some things going on right now, and I simply can’t afford it either. I haven’t given up, but I have some things that I’ve been desperately trying to get under my belt. Things like catching up with today’s HTML/CSS and PHP with SQL. Also, I’m in line for Java and C++.

In other news, I’m really excited about Blizzcon 2010. I know that some great Diablo 3 news will be set forth, and the new WoW: Cataclysm expansion, too! Blizzard continues to astound me in their good work with games. Also, Unknown Worlds is getting very close to releasing their sequel to Natural Selection, Natural Selection II. It’s an immensive RTS-FPS stuck between Counter-Strike, Aliens vs Predator and Starcraft. A futuristic-type First Person Shooter that requires lots of teamwork as teams of aliens called the Kharaa and the the Marine team attempt to take over resource towers to afford upgrades to dominate their opponents.

So my current projects:

This website (making it prettier)

First Sun – Mind Under Matter

Programming Development

are keeping my tied down with busyness. It’s okay though, I enjoy the constant new ideas that come my way. I feel it keeps me creative, and on top of my game. A new update soon for the website will roll out soon. First Sun’s part of the domain will include some rough drafts of the songs I’m working on, and most of it will be completed by the end of the month or so.

I’m back! No thanks to those Kangaroo-fucking bastards.

After a really, really, really long time (around 72 days), I was able to snag the domain back once it expired. I had to let it expire. Trust me, not a day went by that I didn’t think about this domain. Apparently, my previous hosting company uses a domain reseller from Australia called Melbourne-IT. I tried to release my domain from them completely, but it deleted it from their registry instead. I called them up and asked them why they deleted it, and they told me that’s how they release the domains. This is fine, however, when they deleted the domain from their system, it also caused the domain to go under a reclaim period. This was a 72 day period where nobody could touch the domain (not even me) unless I payed their renewal fee. I asked them how much it would cost me in USD. The response? $250… I told them I had never seen a company charge over $10.00 (and even those are the crappy companies) to renew a domain. They told me that this was their price, and it wasn’t going anywhere. I told them to fuck themselves, and that I’d see’em April 1′st. Those son-of-a-bastards caused me some unnecessary heartache (oh electricimpulse.net, I’ve missed you so!) losing everything I had on the server (luckily, I had already backed everything up via autobackup) including all the emails and subdomains, etc… but that’s not the point. The point is the question who? Who, in their right mind, would pay an outrageous fee like that. Stupid assholes. Now I’ve got to redo the entire fucking blog all over again. Expect some updates to the website over time, but it’s going to take a bit to mold it back the way it was. That’s OK, though… this time it’ll be better than the last time. I really just have no direction whatsoever for this blog. Hell, the blog can take a shit for all I care, I just want to make sure my baby electricimpulse.net stays in my name. Isn’t that right my little sweet domain? Yes… yes, it is! It’s mine… my own… my… precious…
